Netflix has announced a whole host of new cast members for season four of Stranger Things.

The hit sci-fi nostalgia series is set to return to our screens later this year. And it seems some new faces will be joining our favourite characters for the ride.

In a post to its Twitter account, the show gave the low-down on the newbies.

Sharing upside down photos of the stars, they wrote: "New cast members incoming. Roll call."

The first person announced as joining the gang is Irish actor Amybeth McNulty, who you may know from another Netflix series Anne With an E.

She will play Vickie, who is described as 'a cool, fast talking band nerd who catches the eye of one of our beloved heroes'.

Next up is Myles Truitt, who we will come to know better as Patrick.

He's a 'Hawkins basketball star who has friends, talent, and a good life...until shocking events send his life spiraling out of control'.

Regina Ting Chen will play Ms. Kelly, 'a popular guidance counselor who cares deeply for her students - especially those struggling the most'.

And last but not least, there is Grace Van Dien aka Chrissy.

She is 'Hawkins' High lead cheerleader and the most popular girl in school'.

But dig a little deeper beneath the seemingly 'perfect surface' and the show's creators have assured fans that they will uncover a 'dark secret'.

And it's not long to go now until we finally get to see what's going on in Hawkins.

The trailer, which was released last month, takes us to Hawkins National Laboratory where we can see a bunch of youngsters playing, before 'Papa' enters and tells them - in a rather sinister way - that he has 'something planned for' them.

The camera then zooms into the door marked '11' and we hear a voice ask: "Eleven, are you listening?"

Before we see Eleven's eyes shoot open.

Naturally, the latest trailer has sent fans into a bit of a frenzy with one posting: "We are ready."

Another said: "'Eleven are you listening?' Literal goose bumps you guys."

While a third wrote: "If the fourth season is going to have to do something with Eleven's past, yes I'm all ears and I would love to listen to what's going on with that."
