Supernanny USA fans were over the moon this week with the return of Jo Frost and her no-nonsense approach to parenting.

But by the end of the show they were in tears after Jo was confronted by a young girl who said her mum and dad were just 'too busy' for her.

Parents Jessica and CJ had been struggling to cope with their four kids and had taken to using babysitting devices to give them a bit of time to themselves.

However, during the show, the couple's eldest child Riley, four, confided in Supernanny that neither of her parents had the time to spend with her.

In the fairly devastating scene, Jo tells Riley to go and ask her mummy to play with her.

Riley said her parents were 'too busy' to play with her.

Chewing gum, Riley says: "Mummy is busy."

Jo tries again, this time suggesting: "Ah, okay. What about daddy?"

"Daddy's busy too," says Riley.

Speaking to the camera, Jo then says: "Riley has clearly got the message that her parents can't make time for her."

Stunned by the little girl's honesty, viewers took to social media to share their shock.

One viewer wrote: "'They are both busy.' Bless her."

A third commented: "That was heartbreaking... and I don't even have children!"

But some people were quite understanding of the parents' situation and praised them for actually trying to improve.

Defending them, one user wrote: "Here's why they're not s*** parents....they actually care about the fact that they are doing it wrong and want to change. It takes a lot of courage to admit you need help with parenting...especially with all these keyboard warriors on good old twitter...#SupernannyUSA."

Supernanny herself also took to Twitter to thank fans for tuning in and sharing their kind words about the show's return.

Following the episode, Jo wrote: "Hello UK.... I'm feeling all emotional..Thank YOU for the love! It truly means the world to me, I love helping families and it is so wonderful to FINALLY have this here back home for you all to watch."
