US actor Michael Mundy, best known for playing a zombie in The Walking Dead, has been jailed for biting a mother-of-two after meeting her at a UK horror convention.

Mundy, 52, initially met Beverly Jackson eight years ago before he returned to the US. Then he messaged her two years ago asking whether he could sleep in her spare room in Manchester on his next visit to the UK.

Ms Jackson, 41, said Mundy started out very charming and promised to get her into films, but added that he became 'more and more abusive'.

According to The Sun, Ms Jackson was first attacked in 2018 by Mundy while the pair were in a hotel room in Germany. She said: "He hit me around the face, bit me on the hands, arm and back, kicked me and threw me out of the room."

The abuse got worse until Mundy was jailed last November after being convicted of assault. He was also banned from going near Ms Jackson.

But Mundy was recalled to jail last month for breaching the restraining order. He is due to be released from HMP Liverpool soon. Ms Jackson said: "I fear he won't stop until I'm dead."

Mundy is due out of prison soon.

Mundy has appeared as numerous walkers in The Walking Dead in 2011 and 2012, in the second and third seasons.

He was the first walker to appear in the season three premiere of the AMC show, with that character quickly succumbing to a fire poker to the head. He has also featured in movies such as Flight with Denzel Washington.

In October 2017, Mundy went to Bonn in Germany to talk about his experiences on The Walking Dead during a panel at Fear Con, a horror fan convention. He also spoke at 2018's Carlisle Comic Con alongside Doctor Who's Peter Davidson and Red Dwarf's Robert Llewellyn.
