People Are Already Selling Aldi's Kevin The Carrot Toys On eBay With Huge Mark Ups

The toys were available to pre-order this weekend

Ever since Aldi introduced us all to Kevin the Carrot back in 2016 the toy has sold out in stores every year.

The cuddly character from the budget supermarket's Christmas adverts is such a hit with shoppers that pre-orders quickly sold out online and now if you fancy getting one, you'll have to brave going in store on Thursday 28 November.

Or you could spend almost four times as much and get one off a cheeky bugger on eBay.

Aldi offered character bundles - the whole family for £11.97 with the option to add in a Tiny Tom and Russell Sprout for an additional £8- for pre-sale yesterday, but no sooner had they sold out than they started popping up on eBay with huge mark ups.

One shopper is offering Katie and Kevin - minus their kids - for £25.00 (plus a fiver postage and packaging) and is promising any buyers they will be sent out the same day they are released in stores.

Aldi has priced the toys at £3.99 each, meaning you'll be paying more than £17 over the RRP for the happy couple.

Meanwhile, if you want the three kids - Chantenay, Jasper and Baby - someone is selling them for £19.29, making them almost five times what you'd pay in store.

One seller offering a Giant Kevin the Carrot for £50.00, more than thirty quid more than the £19.99 he will be on sale for on Thursday.

After angry carrot-hunters pointed out the hefty mark ups to Aldi, the company responded, posting on Facebook: "We are disappointed that a small number of people are looking to profit from a good cause.

"Unfortunately, we cannot control how the toys are used after they are purchased.

"We believe there were a small number of opportunists advertising the toys ahead of time in the hope they can pick one up in store."

This year Aldi has also introduced other Kevin the Carrot themed items, including Christmas decorations and pyjamas - if you fancy getting your hands on some they will be stores on 28 November, but you'll have to be quick because the toys usually draw big crowds and sell out pretty sharpish.
