Angry Pizza Hut Customer Mistakenly Sent Someone Else's 'Leftovers'

An irate Pizza Hut customer has claimed he was sent someone else's leftovers.

Darren Davies, from Llanelli, Wales, was confused when he received his order on Just Eat and found that it resembled something more like a 'doggy bag' than a fresh meal.

The 42-year-old had ordered an American BBQ pizza but says he was handed the remains of 'dry, old' pizzas with two different toppings and a slice missing.

After calling Pizza Hut, Darren says staff apologised for the 'disgraceful' mix-up and explained the pizza he'd been sent was another diner's leftovers, which they had been keeping warm for them to take home.

Speaking about the blunder, Darren said: "It's like I'd been given someone else's doggy bag.

"On some slices, there looks like there's chicken on it and one is definitely vegetarian.

"There's definitely more than one different type of pizza in that box.

"It shouldn't happen during normal times, let alone when there's Covid."

With no time to make himself something to eat, Darren had to return to work on an empty stomach and was left feeling 'very hangry'.

He had been on a work call when his brother-in-law answered the door and was handed an unsealed box with 'T18' scribbled in biro, which he now believes referred to 'table 18'.

Darren said: "I looked at it and it looked like a slice had been taken out. I came back down and said, 'Guys, has someone taken a slice of my pizza?' They were, like, 'No, of course we haven't'.

"I then looked back in the box and thought 'there's different pizzas in here. There was a vegetable one, a chicken one.'

"They were all different slices - I'd ordered an American BBQ one.

"The pizzas were all curled up because they'd been cooked a while before. They just had curled up, dry old pizza."

Darren then called the restaurant to find out what had happened.

They apologised for the mishap and offered him a new pizza if he could come and collect it, but with just 20 minutes left of his lunch break, he wasn't able to.

The next day, Darren went to Pizza Hut and returned the pizza as they said they'd give him a voucher.

After complaining, Just Eat offered Darren a partial refund of £12, though the service fee and delivery costs had set him back £15.07 in total.

Darren said: "I use Just Eat regularly, twice a week. I'm p***ed off basically, especially when the store told me what happened then their customer relations team asked me to fill in an online form which I did.

"They came back and said 'it's not us, it's Just Eat. You need to let them do their investigation and they can look at a refund'.

"In a normal instance I'd look at the pizza and think 'okay, they've delivered the wrong one. I'll eat it and just won't order there again', but when I called and they said it was someone else's, I thought I'm not leaving this now."

A spokesperson for Pizza Hut Restaurants said: "The health and safety of our customers is of the utmost importance to Pizza Hut and we are committed to maintaining high standards in all our branches.

"We are investigating the details of this isolated incident with our restaurant and also with Just Eat. We have reached out to the customer to apologise, ensure he receives a full refund as well as a thank you gesture for raising this to our attention."

Just Eat has since offered to provide Darren with a full refund.
