Arrests have been made following an incident in which two women were allegedly beaten by a group of men following remarks about their sexuality, police have confirmed.
The Metropolitan Police said in a tweet: "Arrests have now been made and the investigation remains ongoing."

The attack happened when Ryanair stewardess Melania Geymonat, 28, from Uruguay, was riding the bus with her American girlfriend Chris after a night out in London.
While they were on the top floor of a double decker bus, Melania says the couple were approached by a group of men, one who spoke Spanish, and the rest British. The men made sexual gestures and tried to get them to kiss in front of them.
When the pair refused, the gang of men allegedly began to throw coins at them, and then attacked them, subjecting them to a horrific attack that left them bleeding and bruised.
After the attack, the men also stole their belongings.

In a Facebook post, Melania explained: "Last Wednesday, I had a date with Chris. We got on the Night Bus, heading for her place in Camden Town, climbed upstairs and took the front seats. We must have kissed or something because these guys came after us.
"I don't remember if they were already there or if they got on after us. There were at least four of them. They started behaving like hooligans, demanding that we kissed so they could enjoy watching, calling us 'lesbians' and describing sexual positions.
"I don't remember the whole episode, but the word 'scissors' stuck in my mind. It was only them and us there. In an attempt to calm things down, I started making jokes. I thought this might make them go away. Chris even pretended she was sick, but they kept on harassing us, throwing us coins and becoming more enthusiastic about it.
"The next thing I know is that Chris is in the middle of the bus fighting with them. On an impulse, I went over there only to find her face bleeding and three of them beating her up. The next thing I know is I'm being punched. I got dizzy at the sight of my blood and fell back. I don't remember whether or not I lost consciousness.

"Suddenly the bus had stopped, the police were there and I was bleeding all over. Our stuff was stolen as well. I don't know yet if my nose is broken, and I haven't been able to go back to work, but what upsets me the most is that VIOLENCE HAS BECOME A COMMON THING, that sometimes it's necessary to see a woman bleeding after having been punched to feel some kind of impact."
Melania has only lived in the UK since February. Taking a sabbatical from her medical studies, she is working as a stewardess while living in London. She has said that she has a doctors appointment and is waiting to find out if her nose is broken after the attack.
A statement from the Met Police issued earlier today said: "The incident happened at approximately 02:30hrs on Thursday, 30 May after the two women, both aged in their 20s, boarded a N31 bus in West Hampstead.
"As they sat on the top deck they were approached by a group of four males who began to make lewd and homophobic comments to them. The women were then attacked and punched several times before the males ran off the bus. A phone and bag were stolen during the assault.

"Both women were taken to hospital for treatment to facial injuries.
