An investigation has been launched after images emerged showing a punter licking whipped cream off a stripper's bum in a bar in Glasgow - despite the city being under level two coronavirus restrictions.

The event was advertised previously as a 'Thirsty Tuesday' night at the Butterfly Lounge on Cochrane Street in the city.

Photos taken at the venue on 6 July show a dancer performing a strip tease, while others wearing no masks stood and watched. At one point a punter was pictured licking whipped cream off the male performer's bum.

Glasgow City Council is now investigating the incident to decide whether Covid rules have been breached.

An eye witness told the Daily Record: "I was passing the Butterfly Lounge in Glasgow and I couldn't believe my eyes.

"It was jam packed, people standing all over the place even at the bar and there was a stripper! Clear breach of coronavirus rules."

The Scottish Government has placed Glasgow under Level Two restrictions, meaning adult entertainment and nightclubs are not allowed, and people from different households must physically distance from each other by at least one metre in a public place.

Groups of six can meet inside from a maximum of three households, but masks must be worn while indoors, when not eating or drinking at a table.

Cases of the virus are rising in Scotland, while concerns around the Delta variant grow.

Writing on Facebook prior to the event, The Butterfly Lounge said: "Afternoon everyone and welcome to Thirsty Tuesdays down at the butterfly today we are celebrating our handsome bar staff Mark's birthday so pop in later and buy him a drink or 10."

An investigation has been launched to see if the bar broke Covid rules.

The post reminds customers of the current restrictions by stating: "Remember to check in and out for NHS Scotland test and protect.

"We are still in a level 2 so that is for indoor drinking up to 6 people from 3 households. Outdoor drinking 8 adults from 8 households."

A Glasgow City Council spokesman said: "We are aware of the incident and are investigating."

A Scottish Government Spokesperson said: "It is vital that all premises operate within the rules in their area. We remain in a delicate position, with the Delta variant causing additional levels of concern and we do not want to undermine the hard work and sacrifices that have been made to get us to this point.

"Anyone with concerns around compliance can report it to their local authority or the police."

LADbible has contacted The Butterfly Lounge for comment.
