The body of a woman has been discovered in a lake outside of Will and Kate's Kensington Palace in Chelsea, London.

The body was pulled out of the Round Pond last Saturday and the as yet unidentified woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Kensington Palace can be seen to the right of the Round Pond.

Met Police said the death is 'unexplained at this time' and investigations are ongoing.

A spokesperson told The Mirror: "Police were called to Kensington Gardens W2 at 7.09am on Saturday, 29 August to a report of the concern for the safety of a woman.

"Officers and London Ambulance Service attended and found an unresponsive woman. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

"The death is being treated as unexplained at this time, but is not thought to be suspicious. A post-mortem examination will take place in due course.

"Enquiries are ongoing to establish the identity of the deceased."
