A young boy almost lost a testicle after being punched in the groin by a schoolmate.

Bailey Summers, 12, was the victim of the popular 'Bangkok prank', and had to be rushed to the hospital where he underwent emergency surgery.

The attack was the result of an old gag where one boy is asked "What's the capital of Thailand?" They are then leathered in the balls, much to the perpetrator's delight.

Generally, this is the end of it, and apart from a few moments of pain, the only lasting damage is to the victim's pride. Sadly, however, this wasn't the case for Bailey.

At first, the young lad was just sent home with paracetamol, but the boy's mum Emmajayne, 32, soon become concerned and rushed him to A&E the next day.

Bailey had to undergo emergency surgery after being punched in the groin.

Things then took a turn for the worse when doctors at James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough asked Emmajayne to sign a consent form allowing them to remove his testicles if they needed to.

Speaking to Teesside Live, Emmajayne, from Hartlepool, County Durham, said: "Within 20 minutes, my son was laid on a bed sobbing his heart out getting ready to be wheeled down the theatre.

"They could not give him the right anesthetic and there was not enough time for numbing cream.

"My son was crying, screaming and begging me to help him. It was a nightmare to see him so petrified and in so much pain. It was heartbreaking."

She added: "The surgeon explained we were on limited time as testicle pain should be treated within four hours for no serious damage, or removal will be needed.

"I had a form to sign to say I approved both testicles to be removed if needed in theatre. I had to sign my son's manhood away."

According to reports, the violent craze began doing the rounds in UK schools in 2004.

And after watching her son go through such a traumatic experience, Emmajayne is urging boys to stop the violence so others don't have to go through he "nightmare" she and her son have endured.

She said: "This 'bangc*****g' has been going on for a while in school and has come back as a stupid phase.

"My poor son is a example of what can happen. This needs to be brought to the attention of the kids."
