Builder Who Won EuroMillions Buys Second Hand Van And Is Still Working

Just because you've won the lottery doesn't mean you have to pack everything in, buy a home in the sun and sip on pints/cocktails (delete as appropriate) by the pool all day.

Admittedly, that does sound bloody lovely, but maybe not for Steve Thomson who won a cool £105 million ($137m) on the EuroMillions three months ago and has just bought himself a second-hand Volkswagen van to carry on working as a builder.

According to The Sun, Steve has saved himself around £10,000 ($13,000) as he opted not to buy a brand new vehicle. Can't say we blame him really - we all want to know we've got a good deal, irrespective of how much cash is in the bank, right?

The 42-year-old has been seen continuing to work in his West Sussex neighbourhood, installing a new front door and double-glazed windows in a porch.

The publication reports that the self-employed builder has decided to take on more work - but that doesn't mean his colleagues can't poke fun at him.

An onlooker said: "The builders had the radio on and Steve took some ribbing from his workmates when Jessie J's song 'Price Tag' came on. They all joined in singing the chorus: 'It's all about the money, money, money'."

Back in December, Steve apparently refused to accept a payment from one of his neighbours because he wanted her to keep her money for Christmas. What a LAD.

The dad-of-three has reportedly refused to charge several clients for jobs he has completed, with one dubbing him a 'top bloke'.

After the builder-turned-millionaire finished installing a conservatory in Selsey, West Sussex, the unnamed customer is reported to have said: "He didn't charge. It shows he's a top bloke, a decent man.

"We didn't ask him about the win because he's probably had enough of talking about it. I think it's quite nice for him to be able to work still because it takes his mind off the pressures of what to do with the money."

Speaking in November, when he went public with his win, Steve said: "I would have got all my jobs done by Christmas if this hadn't happened!

"Once I am over the shock, I will need to keep doing something, I am not the type just to sit still. My business partner knows that if he needs a hand I'll be there."

However, he did add that he will likely stop working at some point and that he would like to move to a bigger house with his wife Lenka and kids.
