Bradford-born magician Dynamo has revealed more about his battle with Crohn's disease, opening up in a candid video shared on social media.

He took to Twitter yesterday with a shocking photo, which showed him with a severely swollen face as a result of Crohn's disease. He simply captioned the photo '#NoFilter'.

Dynamo - whose real name is Steven Frayne - has struggled with the inflammatory bowel disease since he was a teenager and has had several surgeries as a result of it, including one aged 17 in which surgeons removed half of his stomach.

But while he's spoken out about his condition before, in the past few months he's been decidedly quieter - which he's now revealed was as a result of falling ill from food poisoning, which, when partnered with Crohn's disease, is a 'very bad combination'.

In a follow-up tweet, Dynamo has posted a video in which he explains more detail about what he's been dealing with.

In the brave video, he said: "I'm making this video to let you guys know what's been going on in my life in the last eight months.

"I've been keeping a bit more of a low profile, as I got really sick and ended up in hospital last summer due to a really bad type of food poisoning - having Crohn's disease and food poisoning is a very bad combination.

"Thankfully the NHS worked amazingly well to get me back on my feet., butt here's been a lot of ongoing side effects to come from having the food poisoning, which I'm still dealing with today.

"One of them - the main one - is a bad type of arthritis, which has affected all the joints in my body, my toes, my knees, my neck, my ankles, my hands, which really sucks as a magician, when you can't shuffle a pack of cards because your hands are in so much pain, which has happened on the odd occasion.

"But I'm working with doctors, I'm working with a physio, I'm doing everything in my power to get myself to 100 percent.

"I'm working on lots of new magic, so hopefully you'll get to see that soon in the future."

He also explained that another of the side effects is that his appearance has changed quite a bit due to all of the medication that he's on - panning the camera down to a large stash of tablets.

He added that the medication has also caused him to develop a rash all over his body.

Dynamo continued: "I'm doing everything in my power to get myself better. I wanted to let you guys know what's going on from me personally, just in case you hear it from anyone else beforehand.

"I'm staying positive, I'm working on new magic, I've got great people around me looking after me and I know that you guys who've supported me from day one will have my back, so thank you for that and thanks for watching this video."

According to the charity Crohn's and Colitis UK around 300,000 people in the UK live with an inflammatory bowel disease - this number includes sufferers of Colitis - a disease that is similar to Crohn's, but can only affect the colon.
