Imagine stepping into 2019 feeling a little bit better off - to the tune of £115 million.

That's the reality for one lucky couple from Northern Ireland who scooped the top prize on the EuroMillions this week. And it's not just good news for them alone, because they've vowed to share their big win with around 50 loved ones.

Frances and Patrick Connolly, from County Armagh, won with a Lucky Dip they'd bought online, picking up the £114,969,775.70 ($145.6m) top prize.

They won the jackpot on New Year's Day.

Fifty-four-year-old Patrick and wife Frances, 52, said they had a hug and a cup of tea after discovering they'd hit the jackpot. Well, that's one way of celebrating, I guess.

In a press conference today, Patrick revealed that he checked the numbers online before asking Frances: "Do you want the good news...?"

He then told her: "We've won."

To which Frances replied asking how much, only for Patrick to calmly reiterate: "No. We've won."

"We really didn't know what to do or how to react and we didn't sleep a wink that night," Patrick said.

"We rang Camelot at 8am in the morning to verify the win. Then it started to dawn on us that it was true even though it still hasn't really sunk in."

Frances added: "We don't really do excited - perhaps I raised my voice just a bit at the time when I found out - but we celebrated with a cup of tea and a hug."

The couple, who have been married for almost 30 years and have three daughters and three grandchildren, matched five numbers and two Lucky Stars to make themselves the National Lottery's fourth biggest ever winners.

They've vowed to help out more than 50 loved ones.

Frances said: "I always hoped we would win the lottery one day, but when we did, it would be just our luck that lots of others would win on the same day with the same numbers too - never in my wildest dreams did I think we would ever win almost £115m."

Talking about sharing their big win, Frances said: "This is a massive sum of money and we want it to have a huge impact on the lives of other people we know and love as well as on our future too.

"This win gives us the chance to really make a difference for our family and friends."

The couple were thinking about moving to Croydon in March, as Patrick has been offered a new job there, but since the win, he's decided to retire. I can't say I blame him.

Meanwhile, Frances had planned to do a PhD in clinical psychology, which she still plans to do. Fair play - I'd be on my yacht rather than in some dank library, but each to their own.

As well as spoiling family and friends the couple are hoping to buy a new car - Frances wants a second-hand Jaguar, but Patrick wants to splash the cash on his missus.

They've also revealed they want to take a trip to Mauritius, as well as going to see the F1 Grand Prix and a few rugby matches.

Their win makes them richer than Ed Sheeran (£80m / $101m) and Harry Styles (reported to be worth around £50m / $63m).
