Customers Left Baffled As Poundland Sells Christmas Products In March

It's good to be prepared, but this is a bit much

In this day and age, it seems we are always celebrating something, be it Halloween, Easter or National Pie Day. As soon as one event in the calendar passes, the next begins - at least in retail.

Christmas infamously creeps up earlier and earlier each year, with shops surreptitiously replacing barbecues with advent calendars in September. But it seems this year, Poundland has decided to really up the ante.

With Spring barely sprung, a pile of Christmassey doormats were spotted on sale in one of the discount retailer's stores.

Lynne Barrow shared a picture of the doormats - which read 'Santa please stop here' - on a Facebook page called Poundland Appreciation Society... So, we've learnt two things here: Poundland is selling Christmas products and Poundland has its own appreciation society.

Poundland is selling Santa doormats - and we've not even had Easter yet.

Lynne shared the picture with the caption: "I think Poundland are getting in early for Christmas"

You can say that again, Lynne. It doesn't even make sense, as we're currently in an event-filled portion of the calendar. Mother's Day hasn't even passed yet, then we've got April Fools' Day and then it's Easter; so surely they've got enough flowers, pretend engagement rings and chocolate eggs to be flogging for now, without the need to throw Santa doormats into the mix.

Unsurprisingly, the majority of comments on Lynne's post were just different shades of bemusement.

One person said: "Flipping heck we've only just started Lent!"

Another added: "Well there is only 270 days to go to the big day lol"

And it seems the pile Lynne spotted wasn't just an anomaly, as Poundland employees also commented on the post and said they were having hundreds delivered to their stores.

One such employee commented: "We've got them in our store - 470 of them. Me and my colleagues thought we could at least get Easter out the way first!"

Another worker said: "We got 400 delivered on Tuesday."

Good lord... winter is coming.

But maybe we shouldn't be surprised, given that this Poundland we're talking about - the store which has shocked us in the past with £1 engagement rings, £5 vibrators and marshmallow boobs... By comparison, an out of season doormat is pretty unremarkable really.

LADbible had contacted Poundland for comment.
