Deliveroo Is Giving Out Free Ice Creams In London Today

Deliveroo Is Giving Out Free Ice Creams In London Today

In case you've missed it, it's a bit warm out there today. As Britain struggles to sleep, commute, work or do anything other than sit in a beer garden, experts reckon London could have its hottest day ever, with temperatures tipped to top 37C.

In an attempt to cool down London commuters, Deliveroo is offering free ice creams, which is bloody nice of them.

Riders will be stationed outside Bank, Tottenham Court Road and Bond Street tube stations from 12pm, armed with ice creams from brands Judes and Oppo.

Joe Groves at Deliveroo said: "No one embraces summer quite like us Brits, from burnt-to-a-crisp BBQs, endless park pursuits and lobster tans galore.

"But Londoners face something worse than a simple farmers tan, the Central line. So, this Thursday as the mercury begins to burst, we'll be handing out delicious Judes and Oppo Ice Cream across the hottest tube line in London."

If you're under any illusions about how hot it gets on the Tube, FLIR used thermal imaging cameras to capture the incredible temperature commuters have to endure during this hot spell.

The super high-tech FLIR T1K camera showed temps topping 42C on the Bakerloo line. Not ideal.

For other lines it was a similar story, with Central hitting 40C and Victoria and Jubilee at 38C.

So, if you do grab yourself a freebie ice cream, it might be an idea to knock it back as quick as you can.

Deliveroo isn't the only business trying to help the UK cool down. Iceland plonked some of its staff right outside the Magnum Pleasure Store on Regent Street, London, handing out Iceland's Majestic Ice Creams, which cost £1 for a pack of four.

If you missed out on Iceland's cheeky dig at Magnum, or you don't live in London, then fear not, because the supermarket is giving away free boxes of the frozen treats.

To take advantage of the offer, customers can use the code 'MAJESTIC' while shopping online and get themselves a free box of either Iceland's Belgium Chocolate Majestic ice cream sticks or the white chocolate variety.
