Dogs Trust bosses say she is 'a special girl with a big heart'

An 11-year-old dog who has spent most of her life in kennels is hoping to find a family to live with for the rest of her years.

Molly, a boxer cross, was found wandering the streets as an eight-month-old pup and was taken in to the kennels.

But as she enters old age, bosses at the charity are hoping she can experience normal family life while she still can.

Having lived at the kennels for more than a decade, the lovable pooch has spent lots of time with the workers at the charity

Celine Di Crocco, manager at Dogs Trust, Loughborough, said: "Molly is a very special girl with a big heart and we would love her to finally find the home she deserves.

"Although she has unfortunately not spent much time in a home, Molly has stayed with me and she was the ideal house guest."

Molly is house-trained and loves nothing more than relaxing with people.

Celine said: "She was perfectly comfortable with all the different sounds and smells, slept in the lounge at night and we enjoyed a cuddle on the sofa in the evening. She had a really tough start in life, but every dog really does deserve a loving family and we're hoping that this Grandparent's Day, Molly finally gets to meet hers."

If you want to adopt Molly, you'll have to be willing to meet her at the centre a few times so that you can get to know her first.

Of course, given the amount of time Molly has spent at the kennels, to uproot her suddenly would be quite distressing. Instead, Dogs Trust wants the process to be slow, to give Molly enough time to adjust to her new family.

Being an older dog, it would be preferable if she lived in a quiet household with a maximum of two adults. It would also be best if there were no other pets or children in the household.

Celine added: "She really is a gorgeous girl so if someone is looking to welcome an older dog into their lives, then she could be the one.

"We look after all of our dogs until the time is right for them to head home with their very own family, however long that takes, so Molly will be with us until that day comes, but we would like to think her wait will soon be over."
