Donald Trump touched down on UK soil back in July. He met our Prime Minister, Theresa May, for a schmoozy black tie dinner. Then he and the first lady, Melania Trump, stayed at the American ambassador's residence, where he was able to land by helicopter.

The 72-year-old US President then met the Queen at Windsor Castle. And after all that he buggered off to Scotland.

It was two days in total, 48 hours give or take and how much did it cost the Metropolitan Police to protect him you ask?

Almost £3,000,000 ($3.8m). Well, £2,872,780.94 to be precise - the 94p is important.

But what is it made up of?

Well, figures which were released under Freedom of Information laws, include things like mobile phone bills, hotel arrangements and food for the officers over the fun-filled weekend.

First and foremost is the police officers' work which amounts to £1.68m and that's not including overtime which cost the Met £862,196.77 - and they still have another two months to submit their claims.

That's a total of £2.54m for all the officers to make sure things went to plan for those two whole days.

Just before Donald Trump came to the UK, Treasury Secretary Liz Truss confirmed to the BBC that the money would be made available for policing the visit.

And that they did, with £39,021 going on catering for the force and £22,294.90 being spent on hotels.

On top of these figures, £191,750.95 went towards 'infrastructure', when LADbible asked the Met to clarify what was meant by infrastructure they explained that 'infrastructure costs cover things like: barriers, fencing, hostile vehicle mitigation (anti-terrorist protective measures), marquees, traffic signs and lighting'.

They also forked out £1,375 on mobile phones and £74,894.01 on vehicles. He's a pricey president, isn't he?

According to the Mirror, some 1,363 Metropolitan Police officers and staff were involved in the operation to protect the President on when he arrived in London on Thursday, July 12.

The following day, Friday 13th, 2,535 officers and staff were involved, with 1,958 working on Saturday 14th, when Trump departed for Scotland.

Trump's visit literally trumps President Obama's in 2016 which cost the police £1.66m.

The figures don't include the cost of policing the huge protest in Trafalgar Square against the President's working visit to the UK.

Trump's visit was designed to avoid London itself as much as possible, in order to avoid the protest which saw as many as 250,000 people descend on the capital.
