A drug dealer has been jailed after accidentally capturing himself on camera dealing illegal substances, thanks to dashcam footage from his very own car.

Scott Curtis, 45, was caught red-handed after being stopped by police officers while driving towards Mountain Ash, Wales, on 6 September 2018.

As police approached the car, he tried to throw a small bag of cocaine and heroin out of the vehicle's window. However, it was recovered by the officers, and Curtis was arrested and taken into custody.

Police then managed to secure a warrant to search his home in Aberdare, where they discovered cannabis plants - although that wasn't even the half of it.

Officers also retrieved footage from the dashboard camera in Curtis' car, which was where the really incriminating stuff was found.

In the footage, Curtis can be seen polishing his car when he stops to answer his phone.

As part of the exchange, he says: "I don't do valium, gear I do."

He then agrees to the price of 'three for 25', before going on to explain he 'will be there in 10 minutes'.

Curtis appeared at Merthyr Crown Court on Friday 19 July this year, where he pleaded guilty to possessing cocaine and possessing heroin with intent to supply, and producing cannabis.

He was then jailed for two years and six months.

Detective Constable Steve Woolley said: "Scott Curtis tried his best to get away with his crimes. He threw drugs from his vehicle and then claimed that it was all for own personal use.

"But when we played back his own dashcam footage, I don't think he could quite believe it himself. Initially he replied 'No comment' each time he was given the chance to explain what was going on, but so good was the case against him, he pleaded guilty to all charges and will spend a considerable time behind bars."

South Wales Police also posted the footage on Facebook, captioning the video: "Jail for drug dealer who captures himself in the act!"

Many Facebookers couldn't believe the 'levels of stupidity' they were witnessing, while others also congratulated South Wales Police for their work.

"Dude seriously get a trade or something, master criminal isn't gonna work out for you," one person commented.

"How thick can you be?" another asked.

"What a bulb!" someone else wrote.

Praising the coppers, a fourth added: "Well done SWP, keep up the good work."
