It's often pretty exciting when you open up a crisps, biscuits or chocolate to find something inside that's slightly deformed - a giant Hula Hoop or a KitKat that's all-chocolate, for instance.

Yes, most people need to get out more.

But one family opened their packet of Jammie Dodgers to find there was one crucial element missing: the jam.

And it wasn't just the one biccie either, as they realised the entire packet was completely devoid of the sweet strawberry filling, with each biscuit sporting a sad, empty heart-shaped gap in the centre.

April and Gary Moore bought the treats to share with their kids Olivia, 15, Carly, 12 and nine-year-old Kara.

Receptionist April, from Swindon in Wiltshire, said: "We went shopping in Asda on Sunday and bought two packets.

"We opened them on Monday as a treat for the kids before bed and were all astonished to see that one of them was missing all the jam.

"What's the point in having quality control if you aren't going to make sure the jam always gets put in?"

Painter and decorator Gary, 44, added: "I want to know who stole the jam out of my Dodger."

Thankfully, the kids saw the funny side and didn't seem too gutted.

In fact, they even decided to keep the packet as a memento.

Burton's Biscuit Company said: "Our main focus is baking great biscuits that our customers love so it is certainly disappointing to see our high standards not being met.

"Whilst incidents such as this are very rare, we acknowledge they do occasionally happen. As a gesture of good will, we would like to offer you a replacement pack to make up for the inconvenience caused."

Another British family had slightly better luck with their groceries earlier this week, having opened up their box of eggs to find SEVEN double yolkers.

Mother-of-two Michelle Franklin had popped out to Lidl for the weekly shop, picking up a dozen eggs for £1.55 ($2.00).

When she was making breakfast for her kids - Sienna, 11, and Albert, nine - Michelle, 33, started out by cracking open three eggs, miraculously finding each had a double yolk.

Later that day her partner John Matthew, 34, also cracked a seventh egg from the box and found - you've guessed it - they had yet another with two yolks.

Their eggs-trordinary phenomenon is said to be a rare 25 billion to one event.

Michelle, an equine dentist from Hersham, Surrey, said: "What can I say - we were quite impressed. I got up to make me and the kids some fried eggs for breakfast.

"Lidl eggs are yummy so to get two yolks in our breakfast just gave it that little bit extra.

"I used to have hens back in the day and you can tell when they are really looked after by the colour of the yolk. These ones were a dark orange so that's a really good sign.

"After we made the breakfast John cracked a few more and they were double yolks too. So seven out of the 12 had double yolks!

"Albert joked and said he was going to be like a rocket today due to the extra protein. We only took a photo of the first three as we didn't think anything would come of it.

"But to have seven double yolks in the same packet was pretty something. We just found it pretty random."
