Kensington Palace has shared the first official photos of Prince Louis, who was born on Monday 23 April.

Kensington Palace tweeted the photos, explaining in the caption of one that it was taken by the Duchess of Cambridge at Kensington Palace on 26 April.

The palace added: "The Duke and Duchess would like to thank members of the public for their kind messages following the birth of Prince Louis, and for Princess Charlotte's third birthday."

Another photo showed Princess Charlotte kissing her baby brother on the head - mimicking the same pose that she'd had for her first official photos, where she was kissed on the head by older brother George.

It was captioned: "The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to share two photographs of Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, taken by The Duchess at Kensington Palace.

"This image was taken on 2nd May, on Princess Charlotte's third Birthday."

Turns out wee Louis was wearing hand-me-downs, too, as he was wearing the same threads that Charlotte once wore in her first official photo.

Kensington Palace announced the happy news of Louis' arrival on Twitter, sharing a statement that read: "Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a son at 1101hrs. The baby weighs 8lbs 7oz.

"The Duke of Cambridge was present for the birth. Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well.

"The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry and members of both families have been informed and are delighted with the news."

As with tradition, a framed proclamation announcing the birth was also placed behind the gates at Buckingham Palace.

The little LAD was born at the Lindo Wing of St Mary's Hospital in London, shortly after it was announced she had gone into labour.

Louis is now fifth-in-line to throne. Prince Harry is now sixth.
