How You Can Get 47 Days Off This Year But Take Just 19 Days Annual Leave

It takes a bit of planning but it's worth it

With the weather being cold and grim, your thoughts may have turned to your summer holiday - if you're allowed one with the lockdown restrictions.

But whether you can jet off somewhere sunny, or you've got big plans for your back garden, if you use your holidays wisely you can end up getting a whopping 47 days off by using just 19 days of your allowance.

Sounds good, eh?

So, if you fancy getting a bit more out of your holidays, the key dates to look out for are below.

First up, there's Easter, with Good Friday on 2 April and Easter Monday on 5 April.

This means, if you book off between 6 and 9 April, you'll have a nice ten-day break from work and only use four days holiday. Perfect chance to sit at home and eat nothing but chocolate for ten days, if you ask me.

In May, there are two bank holidays; one on 3 May and one on 31 May.

If you book the four days off after the first bank holiday - from the 4 May to 7 May - you'll get nine days off in total.

And the sun might even be shining.

You can use this trick again at the end of the month to coincide with the bank holiday on 31 May and have nine days off between late May and early June.

On 30 August there's the summer bank holiday, meaning once again you can use the trick above.

You'll need to book off 31 August and 1, 2 and 3 September to get nine days off.

Over Christmas, there's two bank holidays on 27 and 28 December (to make up for the fact Christmas and Boxing Day fall on a Saturday and Sunday respectively), plus one on 3 January 2022 to make up for New Year's Day falling on a Saturday.

This means you can book off just three days and have ten off - not bad at all.

Book off 29, 30 and 31 December and you'll be off from Christmas Day until 3 January.

And, hopefully by then pubs will be open so you can really make the most of it.

Obviously, all of these little tricks only work if you have bank holidays off work in the first place.

If you're lucky enough to have your bank holidays off every year, then you might want to get these dates into the booking system as soon as possible before everyone else tries the same thing.
