It's just a couple of weeks until the big day, which means most of us will be winding down with work and increasing the amount of sweet treats we're consuming.

And in the spirit of the festive season, the folks over at Lindt are giving away free chocolate up until Christmas Eve.

Yup, the confectionery giant is giving followers of its social media channels a free hit of sugar if they visit one of their stores in the next few days.

But if you want to get in on the act, you'll have to be quick, because the offer is only available while stocks last.

The offer entitles followers to one bar (38g) per customer, but it is not redeemable online or for a 'cash alternative'. You can choose between orange and mint flavours.

The freebies are available at all Lindt stores across the country, with the exception of Livingston in Scotland as the shop there remains closed due to Covid-19 restrictions.

Now, at Christmas, perhaps more than at any other time of the year, people take their love of chocolate very seriously.

And nowhere is this more true than with their advent calendars.

People have been complaining about having Bounty bars for two consecutive days in their advent calendar.

Many of the people who went for a Celebrations advent calendar this year have been left feeling 'gutted' after doors two and three didn't provide the surprise they wanted.

After an initial high of starting the first day of December with a Malteser chocolate, chocolate lovers were disappointed to find not one but TWO miniature Bounty bars hiding behind the next two doors.

Now, for some people, that'd be a coconutty double-whammy of dreams, but others took to social media to express their dismay.

One tweeted: "I've had a Bounty 2 days in a row in my Celebrations advent calendar. Is this some sick joke?"

Someone else, who was equally as disgruntled, also said: "Celebrations taking the p*** out of me with their advent calendar this year. Bounty yesterday and today."

Guys, chill. It's just chocolate.
