A man has died after falling into a meat mincing machine at a factory in Malaysia.

The 47-year-old Nepalese national was working at the factory near Masjid Tanah when the horrific incident happened.

Zulkhairani Ramli, from Malacca fire department said: "The victim was doing maintenance with three other workers when suddenly the machine was turned on.

"The machine caught him at his waist. Because of his injuries, he died on the spot."

He went on to say it took the Masjid Tanah Fire and Rescue Department around half an hour to remove the man's body from the machine.

An investigation had been launched into the death.

The alarm was raised at about 7.45am and authorities arrived on the scene in under 10 minutes, but it was too late for the man, who sustained 'severe' injuries to his lower body and died at the scene, the Star reports.

The body has now been sent away for a postmortem.

Earlier this year a factory worker in the Philippines died after he was pulled headfirst into a meat mixing machine.

The 18-year-old, identified as Jomar Junco, had reportedly only been working at the factory for two weeks when the incident happened in June this year.

According to local police, the man caught his right arm in the meat mixer and was then dragged into the machine.

Reports said that the accident took place at around 7.30am and the emergency services arrived on the scene about 9am.

Colleague Carl David Carlos turned off the machine when Junco's top half was already inside the mixer, but despite his best efforts was unable to save Junco.

Local funeral director Ardee Porras said that the body was still intact when it was taken out of the mixer.

The local police said in a statement they believe the teen's death was an accident and there were no signs of foul play.
