A man on a mobility scooter ran into two elderly women at a bus stop and then calmly drove off.

The bizarre scene, which happened in London earlier this month, was caught on the CCTV camera of a shop near to the bus stop and shows the scooter drive past the shop before reversing and hitting the two women - who are both in their nineties, according to the Daily Mail.

As the clip continues shocked passers-by can be seen rushing over to try and help the women as the driver of the scooter takes off.

Shopkeeper Ian Gooch, whose CCTV caught the whole thing, said he was first alerted to the incident when he heard a 'commotion' outside, prompting him to rush outside where he found the two women on the floor.

He later looked at this CCTV footage and called cops.

Ian said: "I spoke to the two ladies after and they said they were fine and got on their bus.

"The next day one of the women came into my shop and said she was fine. She told me she had gone home and cleaned up a bloody knee, and that she had bashed her head which damaged her earring - she wasn't happy about that."

He says the other woman's daughter-in-law later popped in and said the woman had been taken to hospital to help put her family's mind at ease, but that she was fine.

In a weird turn of events, as the daughter-in-law was still talking to Ian, a person came into the shop and said the culprit was sat outside, on a bus.

Quick-thinking Ian ran out of the shop and took some snaps of the man, which he has since handed over to cops.

Ian added: "People on social media have also come forward to name the man who did it and have said he's not the nicest man - and some have said they've seen him walking without the wheelchair."

A spokesperson from the police told the Mail: "On Thursday, 14 June at 13:35 hours a member of the public contacted police stating that he had seen a man on a mobility scooter collide with two elderly women in Upper Wickham Lane and make off.

"Police were informed that the women were not injured and that the incident had occurred at 12:00 hours. The caller stated he had footage of the incident and he was advised to take it to a police station."
