A man was spotted casually lighting up and smoking a cigarette on a tube train in London.

A video caught by a fellow passenger shows the man, who has not been identified, not wearing a face mask and puffing away on his cigarette.

Other passengers seem to pay little attention to the man who continues to smoke.

The footage is believed to have been filed on 15 January on a tube on the Piccadilly Line.

The clip has been shared widely on social media, picking up more than 30,000 views and leaving social media users in disbelief at what they're seeing.

One person wrote: "What a moron! Shameful."

While someone else said: "Can't believe everyone looking and not saying anything."

A third joked: "If only I was there... I'd give a disapproving sigh before moving to another carriage."

As you're probably all aware, smoking is banned on the London tube, and has been since 1984, Transport for London can hand out maximum fines of £1,000 for anyone found smoking on one of their trains.

Elsewhere, a hotel lost its licence after photo were shared online of customers sat drinking and smoking inside despite the lockdown.

Police raided The Grosvenor House Hotel, in North Parade, Skegness, after the pictures were spotted on Facebook.

The customers had shared a snap showing a group of lads slumped in chairs surrounded by empty pint pots, with the caption: "What lockdown?" followed by laughing emojis.

CCTV footage police obtained from the hotel showed customers being served on 13 and 14 November - days after the second lockdown was introduced.

As well as flouting the rules by drinking in a pub during the lockdown, the customers were also spotted smoking inside; something that has been banned since 2007.

Speaking about the incident, Sergeant Kim Enderby, Alcohol Licensing Manager for Lincolnshire Police, said: "Following that initial Facebook image being sent to my team we carried out a thorough investigation.

"We quickly attended at the hotel and carried out a review of the CCTV hard drive.

"I thought after 29 years in the police there wasn't a lot left to shock me but the way in which this venue was operating was awful.

"Nearly two weeks after the November lockdown had started we found footage of over 15 people in the bar area.

"They were being served pint after pint by the owner of the premises Mr Sparks."
