A tech-loving couple have got engaged thanks to the wonders of virtual reality (VR) - check out the remarkable proposal in the video below:

Dean Sharp, 33, pre-recorded a video where he told his 38-year-old girlfriend Kamila Sobczak how much he loved her.

Then one day, when Kamila and 13-year-old daughter Zuzanna got back to their Derbyshire home after a shopping trip, he asked her to put on a VR headset.

At this point, she was completely unaware that Dean had invited their friends and family round to the house.

They emerged from hiding as she watched the video of Dean, oblivious to what was going on around her.

In the footage, he talked about their relationship, while the guests quietly got the living room prepared, assembling in their positions with flowers and champagne.

When the video ended, unsuspecting Kamila took off the VR goggles and opened her eyes to see Dean wearing a tuxedo and holding a ring, before getting down on one knee.

Fortunately, after all that planning, she said yes to her fella of eight years.

Looking back on the proposal, Dean said: "I wanted to do it because it hasn't been done before. I have a lot of time to think at work and I thought, 'What's not been done?'

"I was looking online and I couldn't find anyone who had proposed through VR. I used a £40, 360 degrees camera to create the video world. We put flowers up in the room and when Kamila took the headset off, she was like, 'OK woah.'"

Kamila, who also works with Dean as a printer, said: "It was a massive surprise. Me and my daughter had been out at IKEA. She tried to keep me out of the house as long as she could.

"I came home a bit annoyed and I asked Dean to cook the chicken for dinner. But Dean asked me to put on the goggles and when I started looking I saw him in the goggles. I thought, 'Where is this going?'

"I was really confused.

"When I took the goggles off and Dean's family and friends were there, I was shocked because I did not expect all of them to be there.

"I did not have a clue that was going on around me. It was a bit emotional. I was speechless. It's extra special knowing I'm the first person to be proposed to using VR."

After Kamila accepted Dean's proposal last February, the couple are now planning to get married in June.

Congrats, guys!
