A man has been left furious after We Buy Any Car cancelled the purchase of his vehicle despite issuing a signed invoice.

Pandi Qerreti sold his Mercedes Benz on 16 September to one of the business' stores, with payment of
£33,097.25 set to reach his account by 8pm the following day.

But the next morning, he was informed by phone calls and an email that the car purchase had been cancelled and he must 'immediately pick up the car', Mr Qerreti claimed.

Despite feeling frustrated, he said that he intended to pick up the car when he received a government email notification later that day telling him: "DVLA have been notified electronically that you have sold/transferred this vehicle into the motor trade and are no longer the keeper."

The application to change the car's ownership details was registered as having been made at 11.17am on Friday 17 September, over an hour after Mr Qerreti claimed to have received email and call notification that the purchase was not going ahead.

Over a week later, the 44-year-old claims he was been left without the promised purchase money and has also not picked up the car after the government notification telling him he's no longer the owner.

He explained: "I've been very stressed and very disappointed. It stopped me going to work, I can't go to work because of the stress."

In an email sent to Mr Qerreti at 9.51am on the morning of Friday 17 September, a representative from We Buy Any Car said the cancellation was because they believed him to be a car dealer, breaching part of the sale contract.

The email explained: "From a review of the documentation and information we have found about you, we have identified that your business is in the buying and selling of vehicles.

"As you have also been in possession of this vehicle for a very short period of time, we reasonably believe therefore that you are selling this vehicle in the general course of business."

Mr Qerreti claimed that he used to be a car dealer, but isn't anymore.

He went on: "I don't sell cars anymore, I used to sell cars, but now I have a coffee shop."

Mr Qerreti claims that he is not a car dealer.

He also claimed that he'd understood his own credentials to have been checked already before the signed invoice was issued, adding: "They checked the car before, they checked me a while before, they should know.

"They wasted my time. I want to highlight the case to warn others."

In an email to Mr Qerreti explaining the car purchase cancellation, the company said it was because they 'reasonably believed' he was selling the car as a car dealer.

We Buy Any Car has been approached for comment.
