Morrisons Will Go Quiet This Saturday For A Very Good Reason

Morrisons Will Go Quiet This Saturday For A Very Good Reason

It's not just about getting shut of those Christmas songs...

This Saturday is going to be a big one at the supermarket. It's sometimes known as 'Super Saturday' - not the one in the Olympics where everyone won everything - and it is one of the busiest shopping days of the year.

However, at Morrisons stores this weekend, if you visit in the morning you'll enjoy a much quieter shopping trip than at any other shops. That's because they are turning all of the sound off.

That's right, no checkout blips, no Christmas songs on the internal sound system, no bloody sleigh bells. Sounds blissful, right?

Well, it's also for a good reason.

They want to make the big Christmas shop as stress-free and easy for those who want a calmer shop or who might be nervous or anxious about the whole ordeal.

The 'Quieter Morning' initiative will be between 9am and 12pm, but if you fancy a bit of the hurly burly of Christmas shopping with full music and sounds then you will still be able to get that outside of the hours stated there.

You also still might stand a chance of catching a choir or a brass band or something. But that's hardly stressful, is it?

This comes after some shoppers complained about having a stressful experience trying to shop during the Christmas period, and Morrisons listened to the folks who told that them that less noise would 'help them to concentrate on their shopping lists, shop round the store more quickly, prevent them from making another trip back to store for forgotten items, and enjoy their shopping trip'.

Morrisons' Customer Director, Anna Lane, said: "Some customers love listening to Mariah Carey, Paul McCartney and Wham as they do their Christmas shop.

"Other customers have told us they'd like the option of a calmer morning without music, so that they can focus on buying everything they need for Christmas."

Sounds like a good initiative, right?

Anything that allows people who would otherwise be too stressed out, nervous, anxious, or uncomfortable going to the shops - let's face it, it's stressful for even those who don't struggle with such things - to go along and get their Christmas shop in peace, has to be a good thing.

Also, anything that gets the constant stream of shitty Christmas songs to relent for a couple of hours whilst we actually get some necessary stuff done can't be a bad thing either.
