Even if you don't enjoy celebrating your birthday, there is always one silver lining. The cake. It's pretty great. Icing, sponge and cream. What more could you want?

But one little girl went a step further to show her love for sweet treats when she was found stuffing her face with an entire cake she had nabbed from the living room.

Bethany Pitcaithly Nelson, five, was caught red-handed after nicking her mum Sharon's 50th birthday cake, which had been left on a table following a party.

After realising her cake had been pinched, Sharon searched her house for the missing treat. But she was stunned when she went out into the hallway and saw her daughter sat in her nappy, shovelling it into her mouth.

Luckily for little Bethany, home carer Sharon saw the funny side of it and said she just couldn't resist taking a video of the cheeky scamp, in their home in Auchtermuchty in Fife, Scotland.

Little Bethany was a big fan of the cake.

Sharon said: "The previous night, my children and all my family held a surprise 50th birthday party for me, and when I got home I left it on the living room table.

"It had been a fun but boozy night. I was a little tipsy.

"Bethany went into the living room the next evening, reached up, pulled the box off, then went into the hallway to hide and eat it.

"It was almost a full birthday cake. I couldn't help but laugh when I saw her.

"Once I stopped filming, I sat down and had a bit of cake with her as well!"

Bethany was found tucking into her mum's cake at about 9pm on 16 June.

Sharon said she found it so funny she had to take a video.

But this isn't the first time Bethany has been in her mum's bad books. Sharon says she's broken six TVs in the past six months.

Sharon should just be glad the cake didn't look like the one created by Canadian baker Mark Robillard, which was inspired by 'Dr Pimple Popper' and comes complete with real poppable zits. Yum.

It would have been a whole new level of mess.

Mark, who runs his own YouTube channel, was given the idea by his husband James - a big Pimple Popper fan - and decided to recreate the good doctor's board game, Pimple Pete.

He told LADbible: "I have had a few requests from my YouTube channel to make pimple cupcakes but I wanted to take it one step further.

"My husband who religiously watches Dr. Pimple Popper suggested I recreate the Pimple Pete Cake, so I did!"
