The National Lottery has responded after hearing about the unlucky student who recently missed out on a £182 million Euromillions win.

Rachel Kennedy, 19, and her boyfriend Liam McCrohan, thought she'd scooped the top prize after seeing all of Rachel's usual numbers had come out in the draw.

But after 'going crazy' at the thought of her newfound riches, she was brought back down to Earth with a bang when she called up Camelot to confirm her win.

Rachel told LADbible: "I logged onto the app cause I saw that man who called up and didn't realise he had won money but won millions, so I thought, 'f*** it I'll do the same'.

"It said 'Winning match on the 27th Feb'.

"I called up and the woman said, 'Yeah they're the right numbers, but you didn't put any numbers on this week'.

"I forgot to play."

Ouch.

Now a spokesperson from Camelot, which runs the National Lottery, has said they wish her 'the best of luck in future draws'.

Well, she's certainly due a bit of good luck, isn't she?

The spokesperson added: "We're aware of Rachel's story and hope she gets in early to buy a ticket for the next big draw."

Rachel told LADbible she'd forgot to get her usual ticket as she'd been a bit snowed under with university work.

She said: "I use those exact numbers every time, but this week I was stressed with uni work so completely forgot to buy a ticket."

I think I'd probably kick myself so hard I'd break my foot, but thankfully, Rachel has a good attitude about her near-win and hasn't let herself get too upset about it.

"Everything happens for a reason though," she added. "We're no richer or poorer than we were this morning.

"Hopefully it goes to someone who is in desperate need for it.

"Although it's sad, I think we'll get over it pretty quickly - not that he [Liam] was getting any of it anyway!"
