The boss of a bus firm has allegedly sacked every member of his staff, telling them he couldn't stand to work with them a 'moment' longer.

Employees from Nippy Bus, in South Somerset, say they were sent the message at the end of last week, telling them they could 'stay in your scratchers' and 'have a lie in' on Monday.

The internal memo, which was titled 'The end', reportedly read: "There is a difference between giving up and knowing when you have had enough. I have had enough and realise I cannot work with you, the people I employ, a moment longer.

"There comes a time in any relationship when you just have to say 'fuck it', say goodbye and move on. This is my time!

"I am quitting to pursue my dream of not having to work here.

"Nippy Bus has ceased operational activity with immediate effect, 29 October 2017. All staff should now consider themselves dismissed/redundant. The gates are now closed and will not open, so you can stay in your scratchers Monday and have a lie in.

"Please contact the works mobile number on [redacted] to arrange collection of any personal belongings.

"The company has appointed agents who will now work to realise the company's assets and discharge its liabilities."

Twenty-seven drivers have been made redundant as a result of Nippy Bus's closure.

One driver, Dave English, told the MailOnline: "It's disgusting the way it's been handled. Nobody has any respect for him. He wasn't a nice person to work with. You can't just bury your head the way he has done and not confront the problems.

"He knew months ago that the company was in trouble in terms of the number of drivers we had. Everyone was doing long shifts but he just expected us to do them.

"The memo makes it out that it's the drivers' fault that this has happened, but without us he would never have had his company.

"He was always going off to Thailand on holidays. He was never around. He let other people do his job for him.

"Some of these drivers have children and mortgages. We haven't been paid for last month's work.'

On the company's website, it reiterates that it has stopped operating. The company operated a number of school and other public bus services. Somerset County Council says it was given no prior notice about the closure and had to find a last-minute replacement for the 400 students who were affected.

According to the BBC, Nippy Bus managing director Sydney Hardy was unavailable for comment.
