The first images of the new royal baby have been released:

The tiny baby, whose name hasn't been released yet, has already left hospital with his beaming mum and dad the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, or Will and Kate to their pals.

Kate looks bloody amazing for a woman who has just given birth, doesn't she?

Will joked with the gathered press saying the parents had 'three times the trouble now'.

Four-year-old George (George Alexander Louis) and two-year-old Charlotte (Charlotte Elizabeth Diana) met their new little brother earlier today and now all five will be reunited at home in Kensington Palace.

Kensington Palace announced the happy news on Twitter in a statement which read: "Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a son at 1101hrs. The baby weighs 8lbs 7oz. The Duke of Cambridge was present for the birth. Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well.

"The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry and members of both families have been informed and are delighted with the news."

The baby was born at the Lindo Wing of St Mary's Hospital in London; shortly after it was announced she had gone into labour.

Royal-family-fans have been camping outside the hospital for days hoping to catch the first glimpse of the baby.

An official notice has been placed outside Buckingham Palace.

The new baby is hotly tipped to be named Arthur, according to bookies.

He is the fifth-in-line to the throne and the Queens sixth great-grandchild.
