A little girl who kindly asked O2 for more data after using up her allowance received a brilliant response from the company.

Little Macie Bullen-Jones tore through her data allowance less than a month after getting her new phone for Christmas, watching videos on YouTube - we've all been there, Macie.

So, less than a month after getting her allowance, the eight-year-old received a text from O2, telling her that she was out of data. Bad times. But rather than wait for it to renew, or just put up with Wifi for the rest of the month, Macie decided to ask O2 if they fancied helping her out, the Manchester Evening News reports.

Replying to the phone company, Macie wrote: "Please can I have more data."

Macie's mum Claire spotted the text on her phone, and had a bit of a genius idea. She sent the text to O2 and asked the phone company if they would reply and tell her little girl that she would have to do some chores to get access to the Internet again.

O2 were more than happy to help Claire out, and replied: "We got your text, but since you're so famous now we wanted to write you a letter.

"We're not able to up your data allowance at the moment, our systems say you haven't helped mum enough with jobs around the house. Unfortunately, you'll have to wait until we see better reports."

But realised that the little girl might be bored without access to YouTube, they also sent a package of gifts.

"Don't be too sad though," the letter continued. "We've sent a fidget spinner to keep you amused along with some other little #O2Surprises. We hope you like them."

As well as the fidget spinner, O2 sent Macie a power bank, yo-yo, Rubik's cube, some sweets and a water bottle.

Claire told the MEN: "She only got the phone at Christmas and we'd set up her data to see how she went.

"She used it all up on YouTube, she is YouTube obsessed, and spends a lot of her time making her own videos.

"She received an automated message from O2 telling her, so tried to reply back asking for more.

"Me and my friends had a giggle about it and one of them mentioned sending it to O2 so we did.

"They went above and beyond and sent her a box of goodies along with a letter. The letter was fantastic and really made her day."

Well played, O2.
