The weather has proven to be more than just a little bit inconvenient over the past few weeks, having closed schools, delayed public transport and even caused power cuts up and down the country.

But arguably few of us have been put out more than one determined 70-year-old, who displayed incredible levels of perseverance when she had to walk five miles home after working extra hours at her job.

Pam Chapman is a carer in Bradford, who cares for three men with learning difficulties. She decided to stay longer at work due to what she felt was her 'duty of care', only to then have to walk five miles home because roads had become unusable.

BBC reporter Corinne Wheatley explained on Twitter that she'd spotted Pam walking through 'deep snow drifts' and offered her a lift.

"She couldn't get a bus or taxi home from her nightshift and had to walk," Wheatley wrote.

Wheatley explained that she then dropped Pam off as close as she could get to her home, but that eventually the snow got too deep for the vehicle to go any further.

In the past few weeks, the UK has been ravaged by the 'Beast From the East' and its more recent spin-off, as well as storm Emma. The Met Office has said that much of the country is 'still in the grip of cold conditions', but that we will be seeing 'rapidly-improving conditions' later in the week.

"I was stuck there until the other member of staff came in. I couldn't get a taxi so I've had to walk the five miles home," Pam told the BBC.

"You can't leave them on their own, you've got a duty of care really. You've got to do it, even at 70!"

Pam was filmed taking on the -4C temperatures in Queensbury, Bradford.

"Queensbury's well-known for being the highest spot in Bradford and when it gets bad, it gets bad," Pam said.

An inspirational woman, to be sure - but the most impressive aspect to this whole story? Where most of us would bitch and moan our way through such an ordeal, during her interview Pam merely chuckled as she explained her long trudge. The woman's unstoppable.

Round of applause for Pam, everyone.
