The winner has not yet been confirmed by Camelot - the games business behind the National Lottery - but the Hull Daily Mail reports their identity as transgender taxi driver and internet sensation Melissa Ede.

The prize was on the £4m Blue Scratchcard from National Lottery GameStore.

Camelot has previously been known to protect its big-time lottery winners by only revealing their identity if they choose to go public.

However, in a statement announcing the win in Hull, Camelot did reveal: "A taxi driver from Hull is celebrating today after scooping a top prize of £4m on the £4 Million Blue Scratchcard from National Lottery GameStore."

Melissa also put out a few hints on social media, including a tweet that read: "Tomorrow [...] I will prove the impossible is actually possible. Stay tuned."

She also tweeted the number '4' followed by six emojis crying with laughter.

The 56-year-old cabbie is fairly well-known in the UK, mostly for her online videos - in which she often sings in skimpy outfits with items attached to her chest. Her videos have received millions of views, and she also has thousands of followers on Facebook.

She has also appeared on The Jeremy Kyle Show and Judge Rinder, and was once on a shortlist to join a space mission to Mars, whittled down to the out of 200,000 people.

It wasn't long ago that Melissa revealed she was trying to raise £15,000 ($20,000) to get new teeth.

Speaking to the Mail, she said: "It would raise my confidence. For some of the videos, I stick chewing gum across my teeth or hold my top lip down so you cannot see my teeth.

"I get attacked a bit about my teeth on some of the videos.

"They can call me what the hell they want. I am used to that but it would be nice to have the confidence to smile as I am doing it.

"I get really nasty comments - 'get your teeth sorted' and I get called bugs bunny a lot."

Melissa was also on the Hull Daily Mail's 'Hull Sexy and Hull Power' list in 2017.

The Hull Daily Mail has speculated that she is due to speak about her big win today, and will talk about quitting her job, getting married to her girlfriend and plans for writing an autobiography.
