Ireland is currently being battered by the remnants of Hurricane Ophelia, with three reported fatalities, areas left without power and widespread destruction.

The Met Office has issued a red weather warning with the 'potential danger to life' and the Gardaí have urged people to avoid travelling unless absolutely necessary.

They're also pushing out warnings to tell people to stay away from coastal areas, waterways, cliffs etc. It's just common sense. Except there's always one idiot who ignores all the warnings, isn't there?

Dozens of people took to social media to blast the 'moron' for his dangerous stunt and rightly so. People like this aren't just putting their own lives at risk had it all gone wrong - and it so easily could have - and he needed to be rescued it would also be the life of someone from the Irish Coast Guard in danger.

The storm, which hit Ireland earlier today, has brought 80mph winds, grounding flights and knocking out power to around 360,000 according to the BBC.

Two men and one woman are reported to have been killed with one man and the woman dying when trees fell on their cars, in separate incidents. The other man is reported to have died in a chainsaw accident while trying to move a tree which had been knocked down by the storm.

Schools have remained closed today, and many businesses have been forced to close due to lack of power. In places, transport has ground to a halt.

A yellow weather warning has been put in place for parts of Scotland, parts of north and west England and Wales; there are also flood warnings in place for a number of areas across the UK.

If you're in one of the affected areas, you can keep up to date with the latest from the Met Office here. And, please don't be a dickhead.
