The UK is set for even more bad weather with a 'double-strength' storm on its way bringing winds of 80mph, more snow and gales. Brilliant.

Weather charts show a massive snowstorm making its way to the tip of Cornwall where it will meet a second pressure system - creating the perfect storm of bad conditions. (Sorry).

The Met Office has issued a number of amber and yellow warnings for wind and snow today as Storm Emma continues to batter the UK. Winds of around 60-70mph have been forecast for the east Midlands, the north west of England, Yorkshire, Wales and the west Midlands.

Snow and ice is in store for Scotland, the north east and north west of England and Yorkshire. The Met Office is warning people to be prepared, with disruption to trains, buses and roads as well as the potential of power supplies being hit.

Met Office forecaster Paul Gundersen told the Express: "Further snow showers or perhaps longer spells of snow are likely at times through Friday.

"There is an increasing chance that a further spell of more persistent snow may move north into parts of southern England, Wales and central England during the day.

"Icy stretches are likely on untreated surfaces.

"In addition, strong winds will lead to further drifting or blowing around of existing snow cover.

"Delays and cancellations to public transport are possible, as are delays to travel on roads; some stranding of vehicles and passengers could also occur.

"Some rural communities could become, or remain cut off.

"Interruptions to power supplies and mobile phone coverage are also possible."

A number of airports have also taken the precaution of cancelling a number of flights - so there's no escape from the horrible weather.

Gundersen continued: "Very strong easterly winds are likely overnight and during Friday morning.

"Road, rail and air services may be affected, with longer journey times and cancellations possible. Some roads and bridges may close.

"Gusts of 60-70 mph are possible and locally 80 mph over high ground, which will affect cross-Pennine roads and some coastal routes in west and north west Wales."
