In case you haven't heard, the weather is supposed to dramatically pick up for a bit during the start of next week, meaning that the alarm bells have been sounded for everyone to start heading to the shops for barbecues and beer.

Yes, this seemingly never-ending winter looks to be on the thaw, and temperatures could even get up towards 24C in some parts of the UK this Tuesday, if everything goes to plan.

Whilst it might not be that great for the rest of us, it's certainly going to be an improvement on what we've seen so far in this wretched year.

What's more, the restrictions are set to ease tomorrow, meaning that - in England, at least - people will be allowed to meet up in private gardens with up to six people or two households.

What better excuse to get some burgers and beers and sit outside enjoying the rare sunshine?

One person desperate to get involved has already been out and bought a lovely barbecue before posting his haul on Reddit.

User Bradday1990 wrote: "Heard rumours of 20+°c next Tuesday so bought this little fella from Argos yesterday!

"2 hours to build, a fridge stocked with beer and all the ingredients to make homemade burgers purchased! I apologise in advance for the guaranteed rainfall this had undoubtedly caused."

Another Reddit user said: "This is a barbecue high alert! Stock up on coal, burger, buns & beer!!"

Meanwhile, over on Twitter, the preparations continue.

One person wrote: "In anticipation of warmer weather and being outside in the garden I am spending most of the morning assembling a new gas barbecue...... I do like a challenge."

Another - less optimistic - person said: "Barbecue weather nxt wk. Can someone invite me to their barbecue, please. I won't come. But it'd be a nice gesture."

A third commented: "Celebrating starting a week off work, people being allowed in gardens, and a good weather forecast by getting a small barbecue. Apologies if this jinxes everything."

Come on folks, the weather forecast has never ever been wrong before, has it?

Speaking of which, Met Office forecaster Greg Dewhurst said: "Into next week large swathes of southern England and Wales will be dry with warmer temperatures than expected for this time of year, the average for March being 11-12C.

"The mercury could reach a high of around 18C on Monday, with Tuesday seeing highs of 24C (75.2F).

"Much of the UK will remain dry and bright until Wednesday, while parts of Scotland will see some heavy showers."

Enjoy it while you can. Things might finally be starting to look up.
