Few of us rarely see things in our day-to-day life that are out of the ordinary. We wake up, we go to work, we come back from work... repeat.

In fact, most of us would probably have no idea how to react if we found ourselves in one of these out-of-the-ordinary situations.

Adam Cottom, however, is not one of those people.

The 21-year-old is a DJ in the Manchester area and he's also a hero who stopped a woman from jumping off a bridge over a busy road a few days ago.

The Manchester Evening News has reported that police chiefs in Swinton, Salford, are now set to put Adam Cottom forward for a top force award.

Adam was in a car with a friend when he noticed the lady on the bridge: "I was on my way to Manchester to get some holiday clothes with a couple of mates," he told us.

When he was approaching the bridge over the East Lancashire Road in Swinton, he said he instantly knew what was happening.

"I knew straight away as soon as I saw her on the bridge when I was in the car that she was trying to get over to jump."

He also added that there were no second thoughts about what he would do:

"I never had any doubts about going and pulling her down/back over because I wouldn't like it if someone had left my family member there!" He continued: "I reacted pretty quickly and ran as fast as I could, I'm a pretty quick lad so I don't think she had much time to react to me grabbing hold of her as she went to jump over but I was pumped with adrenaline and was shaking after it!"

Police have since confirmed the woman was pulled to safety by Adam as she threatened to jump and was taken away to get help and support.

Apparently Adam didn't pay much thought to the situation until news of it started to circulate around social media.

"I never thought really much about what I did in regards to saving her life. It only became a big thing for me when everyone on social media/radio stations etc. got in contact with me. It's been pretty crazy."

Well done Adam. Top lad!
