Old Ocean Liner To Be Given New Life As 'Zombie Experience'

It's being billed as an experience for "only the bravest souls"

A busted up and broken down old ocean liner is about to be given a new lease of life - well, sort of - as the UK's newest 'zombie experience'.

Just a matter of years ago, this wouldn't even be a thing, but with the success of shows such as The Walking Dead, and a load of box-office zombie film popularity, zombie experiences have never been bigger.

The ship in question is the TSS Duke of Lancaster, currently moored Llanerch-y-Mor, North Wales. That's actually where it's been for the last 30 years and, looking at it, you can tell.

It's got quite a history too, it was built by the same company that built the Titanic and enjoyed a long life at sea that began in 1956. However, it's in dire need of a bit of TLC by the looks of things and has been for a good while now.

With that in mind, Zombie Infection, who describe themselves as 'The UK's largest provider of premium zombie experiences' are going to bring the ship back to life. Given the nature of the experience they're looking for, they'll probably not even have to paint it. It's already perfect for the job.

The experience itself, which is billed as being for 'only the bravest souls' will last around two and a half hours, during which terrified participants will attempt to stop the spread of a dangerous virus whilst being pursued at every turn by actors playing zombies.

Sounds like a laugh, to be fair.

A spokesperson for Zombie Infection said: "Over the last few years, we have worked hard to build a strong and trustworthy relationship with the owners of the Duke of Lancaster ship.

"The impressive ocean liner has seen its fair share of disappointment to date, so it is with great pleasure that after safety and logistic improvements, a lot of paint, love and affection we are now able to bring this amazing venue to our international fan base in 2019 and hopefully beyond."

They continued: "We want to assure the local and national population that we will (in partnership with its owners) take good care of her and bring her well and truly back to her glory days. It is not only a wonderful place to visit but probably one of the greatest locations to do what we do.

"Already being the UK's largest provider of premium immersive zombie experiences and after winning numerous awards for our events in 2018, this will only increase our portfolio further to deliver the very best value for money and the most exciting zombie entertainment events in the world."

Well, they're certainly got the venue for it.

Bookings are now being taken for January, if you dare.
