Police Ask People To Identify Robber With His Head Covered

Thames Valley Police are appealing for people to get in touch if they can identify a petrol station robber whose face is entirely covered

Usually, when it comes to identifying someone from a police appeal, you get the obvious - a picture of their face.

Thames Valley Police have really been testing the waters today though as they tasked locals with giving them information relating to what appears to be a bloke with a pillowcase or bag over his head.

In all seriousness, people still have a bit to work with - his clothing, his build... the rubber gloves he's donning.

The CCTV footage shows him (we're going to assume with everyone else) allegedly robbing an Esso Garage in Bodicote, north Oxfordshire.

It is claimed that he targeted the petrol station on Tuesday August 20 at around 1am. So not only is his face completely unidentifiable, it was also from over a month ago...

If - by some miracle you do happen to know who he is from those pictures - you can contact the police on 101 and quote the reference number 4319025690.

Taking to Facebook, one person said: "Those purple-blue gloves are used in Care Work. A Man in Care Work? Should be easy to find." Let's hope that's sarcastic, eh?

Someone was quick to point out the obvious: "Easy? Also used in garages, workshops, food preparation, spray tanners, etc, etc."

Another person wrote: "Jason? Jason Voorhees? I thought you were at camp," referring to the main character from Friday the 13th.

Earlier this year, officers from Kearny Police in New Jersey gave people a slightly easier mission when they shared a selfie of an alleged thief who nicked an iPhone, took the picture of himself and posted it to the victim's Instagram account.

Sharing his snap on Facebook, the force wrote: "The Kearny Police Detective Bureau is turning to our Facebook community for assistance in identifying a person of interest in the attached photograph.

"On May 16th a victim reported to the Kearny Police Department that his iPhone had been stolen. Shortly after the theft, a suspect posted the attached photograph of himself on the victim's Instagram story using the stolen device."

Police asked for information to help identify this man, who is suspected of stealing an iPhone.

They continued: "Anyone who can identify the person of interest in this photograph is asked to contact the Kearny Police Detective bureau by e-mailing us at [email protected] or by calling 201-998-1313 (2833). All tips will remain confidential."

A few days later, Kearny Police posted an update explaining that no one had come forward to identify the man.

If that's the case, what chance do Thames Valley Police have, eh?!
