Sorry guys, but summer is well and truly behind us as the UK is set to get battered with 27-hours of rain. Wonderful.

A yellow severe weather warning is in place for parts of the country with flash-floods and thunderstorms forecast.

The warning was issued yesterday at 6pm and will run through until 9pm tonight - the Met Office has warned that travel may be disrupted.

The Met Office said: "Heavy showers and thunderstorms are expected on Saturday evening, perhaps merging into longer spells of rain on Sunday.

"While many places are likely to stay dry, there is a risk of 30-40mm in a few hours which may lead to localised flooding and travel disruption.

"Strong, gusty winds are also likely at first. During Sunday, the showers are likely to merge into a longer period of rain.

"The rain will clear away northeastwards during the afternoon.

"But it will be followed by heavy showers or thunderstorms in southwest England and perhaps Wales, which could give a further 20-30mm in 1-2 hours."

And that's not enough to have you digging out your wellies, the rubbish weather is set to continue into next week as the UK could be hit by the remnants of Hurricane Humberto.

The hurricane is currently in the Atlantic but could reach the UK tomorrow evening.

Met Office meteorologist Luke Miall told the Daily Express: This week is going to be very different compared to the weather so far this month with rain and some winds forecast on most days.

"The remains of ex-Hurricane Humberto are out to the west of the country caught up in a low-pressure system which moves closer to the UK on Tuesday which is expected to be the worst day of the week.

"We are expecting some hail and thunderstorms in with the rain and unsettled weather during the middle part of the week.

"Another low moves in on Wednesday and this will affect the weather through the end of the week and into the weekend.

"There is a warning out for rain on Tuesday, and parts of the country could see the average rainfall for the month fall by the end of the day."
