Shocking footage has emerged which shows the moment a huge lorry smashed into a woman's home. Watch below:

An investigation was launched this week after an Eddie Stobart-branded vehicle was used to crash into a property on Lancaster Crescent in East Kilbride, Scotland, on Monday (6 September) night.

According to neighbours, the occupants managed to escape by climbing out of the windows, and no one was injured.

But now, a short video has emerged on social media showing the moment the lorry reversed into the home, damaging the front of the house.

An Eddie Stobart spokesperson has stated that the driver does not work for the company and the vehicle belongs to a completely separate firm.

In the clip, the driver can be seen speeding off from the scene; a lorry was later found abandoned in a supermarket car park.

This comes after police in Scotland confirmed that an arrest had been made with regards to the incident.

In a statement, the police said: "A 33-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with an incident where a lorry was driven into a house at Lancaster Crescent in East Kilbride.

"The incident happened around 11.25pm on Monday, 6 September, 2021.

"Nobody was injured and local residents were evacuated as a precaution due to damage caused to the building.

"The man is expected to appear at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Thursday, 9 September."

Speaking about the bizarre incident, one shocked eyewitness said the truck 'hit the house, reversed and then hit it again' before 'fleeing up the street'.

Another neighbour told the Daily Record: "I seen all the lights flashing and looked out but we assumed it was a fire as there was a fire engine. Everyone was out on the street."

A third said: "There's a lot of noise just now banging and drilling - sounds like they're maybe trying to stabilise the foundations to get the family's things out."

While another added: "We stay in the street behind it and there was this almighty bang about 11.30pm.

"I went for a walk to see what was happening and couldn't believe what I was seeing. The front of the house had been totally destroyed and all the neighbours were out.

"The police turned up very quickly and evacuated other neighbours, so they weren't taking any chances."

According to reports, the house may have to be demolished as a result of the damage caused by the incident.
