Shopper Criticises Aldi For Its Parent Parking Bays

He has called out the supermarket asking: 'should fathers and men park elsewhere?'

An 'irritated' Aldi shopper has criticised his local store for its parent and child parking bays.

The man, who didn't want to give his name, told KentLive that he was left feeling less than impressed when he paid a visit to the new store in Sevenoaks and saw the painted bays which depicted a figure in a dress holding the hand of a smaller figure.

He told the paper: "Does this mean Aldi are expecting only women and mothers to go shopping?

"Should fathers and men park elsewhere? They are happy with the child having no obvious gender.

"I wanted to highlight the issue as it's a little frustrating in 2018.

"It seems that the onus is still on women that they must raise the family and manage this - which is unfair.

"I guess it's more of an unconscious bias that we have in us, and we are all guilty at various times.

"It was just something that irritated me

"I was surprised and disappointed that a store like Aldi, who seems to want to be the newcomer to the area and market, would have an old-fashioned way of thinking.

"Aldi use Team GB to promote their brand and we are, as a society, trying to be more equal - especially within sports."

LADbible has contacted Aldi for comment.

The man's anger comes days after Kleenex announced it would be changing the name of its 'mansize' tissues to the gender-neutral 'extra-large', after receiving a complaint.

A, now viral, tweet sent to the company read: "Hi @Kleenex_UK. My 4yo son asked me what was written here.

"Then he asked, why are they called mansize? Can girls, boys & mummies use them? I said: I don't know & yes of course. He suggests you should call them "very large tissues". It is 2018"

In response to the tweet, Kleenex replied: "Thank you for sharing your concern. We recently made changes to our Mansize branding and will now be labeled Extra Large, keep an eye out in shops."

Earlier this year, a 10-year-old girl wrote to Kelloggs urging the company to rethink the Coco-Pops slogan - 'loved by kids, approved by mums' as it was sexist against dads.

In her letter, Hannah-Marie, from Bournemouth, Dorset, said: "My mum was away so I was just with my dad when I saw it on the cereal box.

"It made me think that dads should be included as well because they are important too.

"Also, some people don't have a mum and they might find it upsetting."

And much to her surprise, Kellogg's replied to tell her that they had reconsidered and were changing the slogan.

"I wanted to let you know that we've recently renewed our research," the letter read. "And our new pack design will refer to approval from both mums and dads.

"Apologies for any offence caused and thank you for your feedback, which has played a part in our decision to change."
