Sky TV And Broadband Customers Set To See Bills Increase By As Much As £72 Per Year

Millions of Sky TV and broadband customers in the UK are going to see their bills go up, potentially by as much as £72 per year, as of 1 April 2020.

The telecoms company has announced that on average, customers can expect to pay £3 per month, or £36 per year, on top of their existing bill.

However, those who have all the services for which the bills are changing could see a significant yearly amount added to the cost of their Sky products.

In short, they're increasing the price of four of their TV and broadband packages.

Their essential broadband package will increase from £20 per month to £22. The cost of Sky's Entertainment TV package is also set to rise from £22 to £24, adding £2 per month to the bill.

If you're signed up to the Sky multi-screen option, you can expect to see another £1 tacked onto the monthly bill, rising from £13 to £14.

The same is true for those with the HD TV subscription, that's going to be £6 instead of the current rate of £5 per month.

However, not everything is rising. Sky Cinema, Sky Kids and Sky Sports packages will remain the same price, £23 per month. The same goes for the Superfast broadband.

That's decent news for footy fans, cinema buffs, and billpayers who like to have their children distracted by flashing lights and pretty colours.

Anyone who is affected by any of the price changes will receive notification via either email or post in the near future.

Unfortunately, Sky customers will not be able to leave without paying a fee if they are still within the minimum term of their contract as the price increase is inflation-linked.

Those outside their minimum term can leave provided they offer 31 days' notice for TV subscriptions, or 14 days for broadband and phone customers.

A spokesperson for the telecoms giant said: "We know price increases are never welcome, so we try to keep prices down while continuing to bring customers the best entertainment all in one place, leading customer service and even more flexibility to choose the package that best suits them."

Sky told Mirror Money that any customers concerned about the price increase should contact its customer care team as soon as possible.

Last year, Sky increased their prices by up to £42 per year, and in 2018 costs increased by £30.
