We all know that these days you don't have to trudge to the capital for a big night out or weekend away with the LADs. Sure, London and other big cities like Manchester and Birmingham may have the sprawling square miles area to accommodate tons of fun bars and swanky restaurants, but the downside is that they can also be pretty bloody spenny.
Elsewhere in the UK, places have been upping their game to prove that they're also worthy contenders for your time and hard-earned cash.
Well, the good folk at MyVoucherCodes have crunched the numbers to find out the best place in the UK for a night out, based on a number of alternative factors that you might not always think about, but are equally as crucial

Researching 50 of the most popular towns and cities in the UK, the study looked at factors including safety, the price of a pint or gin and tonic, the cost of a taxi, the average cost for a one-night stay in a hotel, the average price of a meal and the number of bars and clubs per 100,000 people.
The number one spot went to Swansea, the popular university city in south Wales, which was followed by Northampton and Derby in the runner-up spots.
Check out the top 10 in full:

To pull the top 10 together, MyVoucherCodes used a number of sourced, including Numbeo's Cost of Living Index and Safety Index Score, data obtained from Kayak and Yelp, as well as the Wetherspoon app.
In terms of singular factors, Cambridge won out on the safety front, while Bolton was best when it came to the price of a pint and Southampton for a gin and tonic.
For taxi fares, Swansea is apparently best, Bradford's good for a hotel stay and Peterborough is the solid shout for an affordable meal out.
The Brighton and Hove area, meanwhile, reigns supreme when it comes to the number of bars and clubs per 100,000 people.
