A mother and her prankster son have gone viral after the teenager managed to convince his mum their cat was talking to her.

Cameron Horne, 16, set up a hidden camera in their home to capture the trick in action, having led mum Louise Love, 35, to believe the cat called her 'mama'.

Student Cameron told Jam Press: "Mum has pranked me a few times and I needed to get one up on her.

"So when she left the room, and I saw the cat, I just had to do it."

Remembering the moment her son successfully pranked her, Louise - who works as a facilities assistant with the NHS - said: "Honestly, I really don't know what went through my mind then, other than utter fear!"

"Like, that cat did just call me 'mama'?!?!

"I couldn't breathe after that scream!!!"

The amusing clip has now been watched nearly two million times on Facebook, which is something that has come as a surprise to both Louise and son Cameron.

"It's amazing how much joy it has bought to people all over the world, during this strange time we are all going through," Louise said, explaining that the amusement couldn't have come at a better time - especially given that things have been difficult for her and Cameron in the past.

"We've been through quite an ordeal over the past three years," she said.

"I suffered with terrible depression, which resulted in Cameron having to become a young carer."

However, thanks to their two-year-old cat, Bownisha - who is pregnant - Louise and Cameron have had plenty of laughter in their home.

The viral clip has brought joy to many others as well, having been a huge hit online, where one person commented: "This is gold!!!! Ahahahaha."

Another remarked: "Classic."

Louise said that, in her defence, the pranking isn't always quite so one-sided; while her teenage son may have won this time, in the past she's had the last laugh.

"I have loads of videos of scares I've done on Cameron," she said.

"But his is the only one he has of me.

"And yes - he certainly wins."

The pair have generously pledged to donate 10 percent of any proceeds their video generates to the NHS.
