Right, get yourself to the beer garden immediately, because today is set to be the hottest day of the year so far.

Temperatures are set to be warmer than in famously sunny far-off places such as Majorca, Rhodes and Rome.

As reported by The Sun, Met Office Forecaster Richard Miles said: "Saturday is set to be pretty warm with temperatures of between 28/29C.

"Sunday will be wetter and it is expected to be windy in the north-west of the country.

"There will be a bit of coastal fog in south England and Wales on Saturday morning but the day should be very warm."

He added: "The south-east will hang on to that warm, dry weather on Sunday, while the west starts to see a build-up of cloud, with rain later on.

"Scotland will see a few showers across both days, and the same in the north on Sunday."

Temperatures will vary across the country, with London seeing most of the hot weather. According to forecasts, the capital will see highs of 26 degrees today and 24 degrees on Sunday, but will see light rain at night.

Scotland is likely to be mostly cloudy on Saturday, with highs of 16 degrees - but then heavy rain is forecast on Sunday.

The north of England will stay at around 18 degrees on both days.

Sheffield, Cranwell in Lincs and Tibenham in Norfolk saw highs of 21.6 degrees on Friday.

Either way, it's much higher than the average temperature for June, which is usually 17 degrees in the UK - so wherever you are it's forecast to be hotter than usual.

The hot weather comes just in time for the Champions League final between Spurs and Liverpool tonight (1 June).

Liverpool will take on Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League final at the Estadio Metropolitano in north-east Madrid, Spain.

The all-English Champions League final looked extremely unlikely at various points over the course of the tournament.

Liverpool had to overturn a three-goal deficit at Anfield to knock out La Liga champions Barcelona, progressing to the final with a stunning 4-3 aggregate victory.

Spurs looked more likely to stage a comeback going into their away tie against Ajax, having lost the first leg at home by a goal to nil.

However, they went through courtesy of a hat-trick from Brazilian Lucas Moura, who scored his third in the 96th minute of the game to send Spurs through on away goals.

Other events include the Epsom Derby which starts at the Surrey raceground at 2pm, while Anthony Joshua and Ruiz Jr face each other in their much-anticipated New York fight.
