A Jaguar driver got an earful from a Welsh farmer as he broke lockdown rules and attempted to remove road closure signs. Here's the video of the confrontation:

The driver was blocked in by the farmer, who asked him why he wasn't at home. The driver claimed the rules of the UK's lockdown only apply to large towns and cities.

Obviously, we should all know that this isn't the case at all. It applies everywhere, so it's worth remembering that.

The farmer, Eric Roberts, was looking in on his flock of sheep near Aberffraw in North Wales, when he saw that another vehicle was coming down the road, despite the fact that it is closed to traffic.

Roberts got out his phone and started filming the man removing cones and signage telling the public about the closure, before he confronted him later on down the lane.

It would seem the driver was headed off down to a nearby beach at Porth Cwyfan. Well, he was dressed for the beach and had a kayak in his car, so we can only draw that conclusion.

Mr Roberts headed him off on the way down to the beach and asked him why he thought that the Covid-19 lockdown rules didn't apply to him.

The man responded: "The rules were set for big towns and cities.

"Here in the rural environment it's a completely different kettle of fish.

"I've done contamination control. I know what I'm talking about."

Again, it's worth pointing out that he doesn't.

Roberts responded: "The government says essential travel only. With a kayak? Do you think that's essential?"

The man's response was: "No, but I am working away from other people."

The driver then told him that he lives near the Menai Bridge, which runs across the Menai Straits that separate mainland Wales from the island of Anglesey.

Eric asked him: "What's wrong with the Straits to go with that plastic thing you've got in the car? Nothing.

"Why come here?"

The man continued: "The current in the Straits is quite strong."

Roberts then said: "Good - you'll get a good paddle, it'll give you good muscles."

The government's instructions on exercising outdoors during the lockdown are as follows: "We advise you to stay local and use open spaces near to your home where possible - do not travel unnecessarily.

"You can still go to the park for outdoor exercise once a day but only by yourself or within your household, not in groups.

"We ask you to keep 2 metres apart from others outside your household at all times when outdoors."

Councillor Bryan Owen, who represents the area on Anglesey's council, said: "I have reported this to the highways department this morning and they have been in touch with the police."

North Wales Police confirmed they had spoken to the motorist and advised him to only travel for essential reasons.

A spokesperson told LADbible: "Our approach is always one of engaging with the public, explaining the current regulations, encouraging people to comply with those regulations, and only if necessary would we take enforcement action.

"We treat all reports of potential breaches seriously. We have spoken with the man concerned, who lives locally, giving him suitable advice regarding essential travel only, and we now consider the matter closed."
