A woman has started dating her 'step-brother', having spoken out about her feelings for him in a new ITV2 show.

Maddie appeared on a dating show called Secret Crush, where people confess their love to someone before talking things out.

She explained that she'd known Callum since she was little, as her mum was once engaged to his dad - although the wedding was eventually called off.

Maddie and Callum didn't see each other after their parents split, but had stayed in touch on social media - where things became a bit flirty'.

After realising her feelings for him were growing, Maddie decided to go on the ITV2 show to reveal that she had a crush on him, saying at the beginning of the episode: "I'm here to tell my brother that I fancy him.

"Just to be clear, we are not related - my mum and his dad were together many years ago.

"But since we got back in touch on social media, he's really matured and he's very good-looking.

"Callum is my mum's boyfriend's son from about nine years ago - he's my ex-step-brother, I suppose.

"One conversation we had did start getting a bit flirty and that's when I realised maybe it's a bit more than step-brother and step-sister."

Maddie - who still lives with her mum - admitted she felt 'quite nervous' but also 'quite excited' to see what Callum had to say, saying if things went badly she would have to say 'goodbye to any future family reunions'.

Callum, who is a stone mason from Essex, had no idea that Maddie harboured any feelings for him, and was clearly surprised when the big reveal came.

He said: "I can't believe it's you! That's mad, that's crazy. You were the last person I expected to walk through that door.

"I ain't seen you in years, we haven't even spoke that much - you've kept it a right secret. I'm blown away, to be honest."

As they caught up, Maddie said she felt Callum had 'really matured' since she'd last seen him, adding: "You're just sound and genuine."

Discussing what others might think of any potential romance, Maddie said: "I don't think we're breaking the law. Unless we're secretly related."

Callum replied: "Basically we were not even step-brother and sister because they didn't get married."

Maddie then reminded Callum that they were engaged, to which he replied: "Yeah, but they didn't get married. We're not doing anything illegal so it's all sweet."

After their reunion, Callum concluded: "As long as she treats me well and can cook, maybe I will get down on one knee and propose. I can't believe she had a crush on me, she was the last person I expected to be interested in me whatsoever.

"It's crazy to think that after all these years I've still been in the back of her mind somewhere, that's a compliment in itself.

"I think she's absolutely stunning... She's a lovely girl, as gorgeous as anything, so I'm buzzing to be honest. I'm excited to see where this goes."

Maddie added: "He was really shocked, he had no idea it was me at all.

"I think that was one of the best dates I've ever had, we really clicked and got on well. I was really nervous, but I think it went really well. I'm excited to take him home to meet my mum, I can't wait to see the reaction and the look on her face."

Secret Crush is available to watch on ITV Hub now.
