A woman who was stopped on a beach in Wales, despite the lockdown restrictions, has admitted she 'didn't realise Wales wasn't in England'.

A clip, which the woman herself filmed, shows her arguing with two officers after they approached her on a beach in Barmouth, Gwynedd to tell her she had to leave.

The woman and her family had travelled from the West Midlands and when confronted by police said: "You're telling me it's illegal for me to be at this beach when Boris Johnson has said that you can."

The male officer explains that the current lockdown rules in Wales differ from those in England to which the woman replies that she's been to the beach before, asking: "That's 100 per cent that is? I've been here three times before."

The woman, who has not been named, later shared the clip to social media writing: "I was ignorant. I didn't realise Wales wasn't in England.

"Fully understand I was in the wrong. See I admit when I f*** up.

"But tomorrow we going to an English beach.

"F*** you Wales you bunch of b*******. No f***er was even there locals lined up waiting."

Adding: "Come on, it's me. I don't do rules."

Ahead of the bank holiday weekend police in north Wales stressed that strict lockdown rules were still in place in the country and that no travel was permitted into Wales.

Temporary Assistant Chief Constable Nigel Harrison told north.wales.com: "Despite our repeated messages including national media coverage, we've continued to see people travelling totally unreasonable distances into north Wales which is extremely disappointing.

"Our focus continues to be to reassure, inform and engage with people so they understand why these restrictions are in place.

"Teams continue to be out and about in our communities and on the road networks, and will be once again this weekend, ensuring the people are complying with the restrictions.

"Please stay in your primary residence. North Wales will still be here once the pandemic is over and we look forward to getting things back to normal and welcoming people back as soon as we can."
